“The Last Time”
One year, after mountain climbing in Colorado, I really began to feel the toll it was taking on my aging body. At the time I firmly believed it would be my last time.

LYRICS
My hair is turning gray shows how time has passed away
Changes are coming different every day
It frightens me to realize though I finally see things clear
Those days may be over I have to face my fears
Never thought it would come to this that I couldn’t make the grade
I feel the changes in my body I can’t help but be afraid

As I look out over rugged peaks Looking back on the days I’m counting
The journeys I’ve taken amazed at all that I saw standin’ on top of a mountain
There’s emotions inside I’m trying to hide I can barely breathe
In the thin mountain air I’m contemplating as a sadness comes over me
To consider the thought of leaving this place somewhere so wild and so free
The realization springs true days were numbered I never thought they were so few

For so many years I yearned for these places and the pleasures they would hold
Take the journey to the heights that were promised that seem to be reserved for the bold
It saddens me to recognize those days have come to an end
Though the mountains still call to me It’s hard to say goodbye to an old friend
I’m starin’ at my feet they won’t let me go Stay rooted in the wildness and being alone
The clouds and the sky the beauty rises so high alone in the place that I love
